Danel Elpeleg reflects on Israel's policy of occupation, as practiced shortly after the founding of the state. She researches how her grandfather Zvi served as military governor in the Arab village entrusted to him. By means of archive material and interviews, she retraces the past – and in doing so, discovers not only acts of political arbitrariness, but also a family secret swept under the carpet.
