Tim Burton reimagines the Disney classic about a flying elephant calf, in near-realistic CGI. The borderline racist crows are no longer to be found. Instead Burton stays true to his favourite subject: Outsiders with parent issues have to fight for acceptance in a cruel and prejudiced world. The added plot strand of Michael Keaton (BATMAN) as a Disney-like impressario buying up the circus of Max Medici (Danny DeVito, BATMAN RETURNS) adds more drama and darkness to what was already one of the House of Mouse's darker tales.
