Berlin-Film-Catalogue #56: KENNEN SIE URBAN?

Ingrid Reschke was the first woman who shot feature-length films for adults for DEFA. She made KENNEN SIE URBAN? (1970/1971) based on a screenplay she wrote with Ulrich Plenzdorf that is a mixture of a road movie and a social coming of age story about a young Berliner from a “difficult” background who is in jail for assault in the beginning and in the hospital for jaundice later on. Now the young man is trying to find his former roommate Urban , a well-travelled and worldly engineer, and goes from one GDR construction site to the other in order to find him. With an introduction by curator Jan Gympel on the 14th.
