They keep themselves afloat with petty crimes because they try a dangerous coup to get money for their journey to Germany. The documentary MY MEMORY IS FULL OF GHOSTS by Anas Zawahri, follows the residents of Homs a decade after the Syrian city was subjected to a devastating siege. This year's "Alfilm Spotlight" section will focus on "Cancelled Futures, Endless Pasts: Speculative Fiction on and Archival Subversions of the (Post)colonial Condition," and one of the section's highlights will be PERFUMED WITH MINT. Muhammed Hamdy's film is set in a post-apocalyptic Cairo where mint grows out of men's heads, the dead resurface, and the only salvation seems to lie in poetry and hashish.
