Widower Frank sets off to spread his wife's ashes over a lake in her native Ireland. He takes their estranged son Sean along. Sean does not want to go but agrees in exchange for the promise of a plane ticket to the USA and that they will never speak to each other again.
Naturally, father and son have some interesting encounters on the way and end up having a much-needed chat.
