Climate Warriors – Der Kampf um die Zukunft unseres Planeten

A documentary about "climate warriors" in Germany and the US.

More

CLIMATE WARRIORS is a film about nothing less than the fight for the future of our planet and the survival of coming generations in times of approaching climate catastrophe. In the style of a plea for empowerment, German director Carl-A. Fechner shows both sides of those i the northern Atlantic who are fighting for a sustainable world. Like Xiuhtezcatl Martinez for example, one of the 21 US teens who are suing the supreme court because of the environmental politics of their government. And because climate change can only be limited to a bearable degree once fossil fuels aren‘t used anymore, the main focus of the film is to present ideas and solutions for a complete switch over to renewable energies (which has been technologically possible for a long time). It‘s about storage technology. The decentralization and democratization of energy supplies and distribution. The course correction of the value numbers of the energy sector in the conventional social model. Health. Geopoligical conflicts about fossil resources. Nuclear energy. Solar energy and other fuels from renewable raw materials. Consumerism, building energy, and mobility. Trump: “I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not the citizens of Paris.“ Xiuhtezcatl: “My father taught me that all living creatures are connected. We all live on the same planet and drink the same water.“

But precisely because the biggest problem of climate activism is the imbalance between real life and media perception, it‘s a shame that the director chose to use such grandiose film language. The audience is reduced to receiving it all passively, it passes them by like an automated, animated slideshow.
