Hulu is about to be a mother for the fourth time. Even though a medical center has recently been built in the area to combat mother mortality, Hulu decides to give birth at home, aided by a traditional midwife. When there are complications during the birth, this sets off an argument amongst the women of the village, touching on their wish for selt-determination and emancipation.
