Acting as a preliminary taster for the Lithuanian Cinema goes Berlin festival (31st of Oct to 4th of Nov 2019), Freiluftkino Insel im Cassiopeia is showing the historical drama ASHES IN THE SNOW on the 26th of July. Based on Ruta Sepety's bestselling YA-novel Between Shades of Grey, it tells the story of young artist Lina (Bel Powey) who in 1941 is preparing for a summer of comfort and first dating experiences. Instead, she and her family are deported to Siberia by the NKVD. Uncertain whether or not they will survive, Lina is filled with the desire to bear witness of the injustices suffered by writing about and drawing the internment camp, and to try to safe her father of execution.
