Human Rights Film Festival

Saudi Arabian freedom fighter Loujain al-Hathloul is the patroness of this year‘s Human Rights Film Festival. The “The Art of Change“ exhibit puts the stories of international activists, political pioneers, and humanitarian helpers at the center. Loujain al-Hathloul is a key figure of the “Women to Drive“ movement and she can‘t leave her country after spending over 1000 days in prison five years ago. Her sister Lina al-Hathloul, who lives in Germany, will be representing her in the welcome speech.. The opening film SABAYA (2021), by Kurdish-Swedish director Hogir Hirori, deals with the crimes that the so-called Islamic State committed against girls and women in the Iraqi city of Sinjai. This year the Human Rights Festival will take place online and offline and offer a supporting program made up of exhibitions and conferences. The “Human Rights Forum“ will be discussing the theme of “Storytelling & Acivism“ for four days.
