Z-inema will be screening classics and almost-classics of avantgarde genre cinema in November. NOVEMBER (2017, November 1st) by Rainer Sarnet is a dark Estonian fairy tale in which you can summon the devil by whistling at a crossroad, animated creatures made of household objects, called “Kratt,“ help with stealing and the spirits of the dead are invited to dine at the family table on All Soul‘s Day. Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s SANTA SAGRE (1989, November 8th) is a masterpiece of surreal horror, a revenge tale in the circus milieu with hypnotic images and religious delusion. In MANDY (2018, November 29th) by Panos Cosmatos, Nicolas Cage takes revenge on a sadistic cult leader in a wild flood of images. There will also be experimental shorts from the “Shorts on Tap“ series on November 15th and in December there‘s the Newborn Shorts Film festival (December 7th) and the Christmas classic SILENT NIGHT (December 13th)
