Sputnik Kino am Südstern

Estonian Film Days

The third Estonian Film Days will take place at Sputnik Kino in cooperation with the Estonian embassy on the 16th and 17th of November. The very striking, almost primeval, wild Estonian landscape is at the center of the documentary THE WIND-SCULPTED LAND (2018) with material that was assembled over more than three years. Este Ahto Valter went away from the homeland between 1938 and 1940 when he sailed around the world with his family. The documentary AHTO reconstructs their story out of historical material and interviews with witnesses from the era. Things get dramatic in SCANDINAVIAN SILENCE when two brothers process a violent event from their past, and FIRE LILY is about a seemingly infertile young women who wishes nothing more than to get pregnant and her wish unexpectedly coming true. An exhibition of pop art artist Kennet Lekko is part of the supporting programme.
