Frank Öllers (Devid Striesow) and Kai Niederländer (Sebastian Blomberg) are smooth and seasoned consultants. They spend their lives inside meetings and working on power point presentations in five-star hotel rooms. Their cynicism ends where their personal obsessions begin: in Frank’s case it’s his family. For Kai it’s his manic obsession with hygiene and security. Nobody can beat Kai in packing a suitcase. The third person in the team is Bianca März (Katharina Schüttler), who replaces their unseen colleague “Hellinger” after he was made partner. Bianca has medical degree but decided for a career in consulting because she wanted to make a difference. She’s given the assignment by the big boss to make an assessment of Öllers und Niederländer. While the situation in the outside world deteriorates – one hears screams, gunshots, and threatening noises – menacing rumors of a corporate take-over send the trio into a tizzy. Director Johannes Naber (DER ALBANER) reduced the setting to the bare essentials. THE AGE OF CANNIBALS takes places entirely in a series of hotel rooms with only marginal references to the outside world. The smog-ridden cities are only secondary. The film revolves around the cynical dialogue between the characters smartly written by screenwriter Stefan Weigl.
