THE YES MEN ARE REVOLTING is officially labeled as a documentary but it is more a work of propaganda than anything else. It is the handywork of Mike and Andy (or Jacques and Igor, the duo’s real names); two of globalization’s fiercest opponents who have worked as activists for quite a few years and made some hair-raising awareness boosting campaigns focused on the faults of globalized capitalism. The two often tackle things using anarchist humor, such as masking themselves and going to director’s board meetings and press conferences, which makes them all the more likable – for those who share their world view. People who don’t won’t watch the film directed by Laura Nix since it preaches to the converted; making criticism of the film’s absolutist tone irrelevant to a degree. People who enjoy the Yes Men’s antics and/or believe that globalization is wrong will like the film, otherwise they wouldn’t watch it. The Yes Men are the good guys, there’s no question about that, which doesn’t makes their third film THE YES MEN ARE REVOLTING not a good documentary per se but does make it a film with a most agreeable ideology.
