After visiting her parents in Finland, 40 year old Frida (Friederike Kempter), an art therapist at a daycare, meets pilot Felix (Florian Lukas) who is getting drunk at the bar after his long-time girlfriend left him for a job in Boston. Frida quickly sees Felix as the love of her life. But when she finds out that she has accidentally gotten pregnant, Felix starts to behave strangely. He is gone more often and finally confesses to Frida that he‘s back with his ex. The high-risk pregnant woman desperately tries to do everything to win him back. Frida‘s actions cross more and more boundaries: she follows Felix and sends his girlfriend ultrasound photos of her baby. When she befriends tech savvy Yolanda (Lena Urzendowsky), the neighbor‘s daughter, and finds out what the teen‘s drone is capable of, Frida gets new ideas for how to stalk Felix.

Laura Lehmus‘s feature-length debut is an unconventional, colorful urban Berlin fairy tale about a woman who is grieving her lost dream of having a nuclear family – and despite her questionable behavior she finds understanding and gets new chances. In the imaginatively designed film, balloons in all the colors fly in the sky to announce the pregnancy and a pair of old ladies which Frida supports introduce themselves as floating, colorful clouds. The director, who was born in Finland in 1972, accentuates her diversely cast film, which has already played at over 60 film festivals worldwide, with music by Finnish rapper Miika Pesso that fits in well with the film‘s prevailing positive mood.
