Suicide Tourist

Max has an incurable brain tumor. One day he finds out about the remote luxury wellness paradise “Hotel Aurora“ that helps those weary of life with dying and checks himself in.

The dream team made up of Jonas Alexander Arnby (direction), Niels Thastum (camera), and Mikkel Hess (music) that made the atmospheric werewolf/coming-of-age film WHEN ANIMALS DREAM in 2014 have a new, similarly elegant, floaty nightmare. The drama starts in the seemingly familiar present here as well: Max (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has an untreatable brain tumor, and while he tries to keep a brave face in front of his girlfriend Laerke (Tuva Novotny), he would actually want to die. Max finds out about “Hotel Aurora“ from a insurance case he is working on, a place that helps those weary of life, and checks himself in. A helicopter takes him to the Norwegian mountains in a remote hyper modern luxury wellness paradise made of exposed concrete and solid wood in which inmates plan their dream death in gentle conversations. The idyll only persists as long as the clients are compliant, those who have doubts and want to end the nice death nightmare finds out that no one comes back from Hotel Aurora.
