The history of wars and divisions has shaped the people in the border region, but also a river that flows through the country: the Memel, or Nemunas in Lithuanian. The writer Sudermann and the poet Bobrowski in particular described the close relationship between the people there and the surrounding landscape and nature. They also call their region "Little Lithuania". They talk about their lives, about the end of the war and the time when Lithuania was part of the Soviet Union, and about the present. And they talk about the unique nature that surrounds them, by the river and the lagoon.
