Nitin, the son of the laundress Prabha Mai, is mistaken by the police for a Thief. He and his friend Suresh are taken to the police station, where they are tortured. After a while Suresh is released, but he has to leave Nitin behind in the custody of the police.
Later his body is found on the bank of the river by Prabha who is washing clothes.
