Told in flashbacks, COLONEL BLIMP tells about the life and career of Brigadeer General Clive Candy and the friendship to a Prussian Colonel which lasted from just after the Boer War to the then present of World War II.

Being released in 1943 and painting a sympathetic picture of a German, the film had Winston Churchill himself campaign to stop its release. It was heavily cut and it took until 1983 for the full version to be re-released in cinemas.
