LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL directed by Australian brothers Cameron and Colin Cairnes is a mock found footage film which presents itself as a TV talk show from the 70s: the disastrous late night show “Night Owls” with host Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian) is being shown, including behind-the-scenes scenes. It quickly becomes clear that Jack has attracted the interest of the lord of darkness. In the enchanting biographical introduction he tells of a visit to “The Grove” – a reference to the “Bohemian Grove” estate, which conspiracy theorists believe is the headquarters of elite US Satanists (Clinton, Obama, etc.). Jack even dragged his terminally ill wife Madeleine in front of the television cameras, all in order to catch up with late night king Johnny Carson in the ratings.

The guests of Jack Delroy's last show are the medium Christou (Fayssal Bazzi), who follows the real esotericism Carmichael Haig (Ian Bliss), modeled on the skeptic and magician James Randi, and, as a highlight, the only survivor of a satanic cult, the teenage girl Lilly (Ingrid Torelli) and her therapist Laura (June Ross-Mitchell). Lilly says she has a demon inside of her who she calls “Mr. Wriggles.“ Last but not least, the ghost of dead Madeleine hovers over the show. The stage is set for a hilarious and very scary show. LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL is a B-movie in the best sense. Made on a small budget, but done so with originality and love and care and with excellent actors, the director brothers construct a noose that keeps tightening until the spectacular finale. New “Madeleine” sightings in the film are constantly being discovered on Twitter. LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL is an excellent instant cult movie.
