After decades in hiding, ex-mobster Noodles Aaronson (Robert DeNiro) returns to New York, still haunted by the memories of the friends he betrayed. But returning also awakens happier memories of a youth in New York. Still, most of what is waiting for him is painful and his story still holds some surprises for him.
