In a dystopian future, "tributes" from every district have to compete in a fight to the death in order to secure food for their home district. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) takes the place of her sister, who was initially chosen. Besides trying to survive, Katniss is also struggling with her affections for fellow contestant Peeta.
