In his new film DER ATEM (THE BREATH) renowned filmmaker Uli M. Schueppel follows Berliners in the night, accompanies them for a few moments and listens to their stories about times when they held their breath, their breath stopped or they were suddenly breathless. Giving as much attention to their words as to their silences, the individual breaths melt into each other, alternate like the verses of a song and in this way become the symphony of a city at night.
