There are three pop docs in September that focus on electronic music. REVOLUTION OF SOUND. TANGERINE DREAM and CONNY PLANK – THE POTENTIAL OF NOISE are about two very different kinds of electronic pop music in Germany. One band is in the “Berlin School” which orients itself on classical music which Tangerine Dreams founding member Edgar Froese belong to. Then there’s Conny Plank’s studio in Wolperath, where Plank produced experimental krautrock at first, and went on to change electronic pop music by creating a new groove and sound which can be found on the first records of Cluster, NEU!, Harmonia, and Kraftwerk. A BUNCH OF KUNST – THE SLEAFORD MODS comes off as a more DIY film about the post-punk band from Nottingham, whose first record is reminiscent of DAF which was incidentally produced by Conny Plank.
